3LCD projectors split white lamp light into red, green and blue paths, pass each colour through its own LCD panel, then recombine through a dichroic prism into the lens. Each LCD has a polariser sheet on the input and output side that cuts unwanted polarisation. Lamp UV slowly bleaches the polariser, especially the blue and green panels (more energetic UV), which gives you the classic yellow or pink blob in the projected image. The LCD itself can also develop dead lines (driver failure) or full panel cooking (thermal stress) over time.
Send a photo of the projected image (white test pattern preferred) to +91 7702503336, plus the model code. We identify whether it's polariser burn (₹1,200-₹2,800 per panel), full panel replacement (₹4,500-₹12,000 per panel), or a prism alignment issue (₹6,000-₹15,000) before the unit comes in. LCD work happens at our Secunderabad workshop with the right tooling and a dust-managed bench.
Common Symptoms We See
Walk through any of these patterns and you're in the right place.
Yellow blob in image
Yellow patch in the centre or edge of the projected image, especially visible on white slides. Polariser sheet burn on the blue panel, polariser replacement runs ₹1,200-₹2,800.
Pink or magenta cast
Whole image tinted pink or magenta, especially after long sessions. Green-channel polariser bleaching or green LCD panel cooking. Polariser-first, panel-replacement if not.
Vertical or horizontal dead line
Permanent line across the projected image. LCD panel driver failure, panel replacement only at ₹4,500-₹12,000 per panel.
Ghosting or double image
Subtle double image around edges, especially on text. Convergence drift between the three LCD panels, prism alignment work runs ₹3,500-₹8,000.
Burn-in mark from lamp
Persistent shape or shadow visible on white screens. Polariser or panel cooked locally by lamp hot-spot, only fix is replacement of the affected polariser or panel.
Dust spots inside
Small dark spots visible in the image, fixed in position regardless of source. Dust between the panels and the prism, internal-clean fix or polariser replacement at the same time.
How We Fix It
Four steps from WhatsApp message to working projector.
Send a photo of white-screen test
Project a blank white slide, photograph at full resolution showing the affected area, and send the model code. We identify polariser burn vs panel failure vs prism issue from the photo. WhatsApp 7702503336.
Workshop intake
Collect from your address (free in Hyderabad on jobs over ₹3,000). At the workshop we open the optical block, expose the three LCD panels and prism, and inspect each polariser under a UV-filtered lamp.
Polariser, panel or prism work
Polariser sheet replacement is the most common outcome (₹1,200-₹2,800 per panel) for yellow / pink / blue tint cases. Full panel swap for dead-line and burn-in cases. Prism re-alignment for ghosting.
Convergence calibrate, test, deliver
After parts work we re-converge the three panels through the service menu, run colour test patterns and a real-content clip, confirm no ghosting or tint. Refit and deliver.
Transparent Pricing
Quoted on WhatsApp before we visit. Final on the invoice.
Polariser sheet replacement
Per panel. Replacement of the input or output polariser sheet on the affected LCD. Best outcome for yellow / pink / blue tint cases caused by lamp UV burn over years of use.
LCD panel replacement
Per panel. Full LCD panel swap when the polariser alone won't recover the picture (dead lines, panel cooking, severe burn-in). 3LCD projectors have three panels, sometimes more than one needs replacement.
Prism + panel rebuild
Full optical-block rebuild covering all three panels, all six polarisers, and dichroic prism re-alignment. For severely UV-burned units where every component is at end-of-life.
₹149 visit charge waived when you proceed with the repair. UPI / GPay / PhonePe / Paytm / cash accepted.
Why Projector Repair World
Two decades of projector specialisation, since 2007.
3LCD specialists
We service Epson, Panasonic and Sony 3LCD optical blocks every week. Polariser-first approach saves customers 60-70% versus a straight panel swap recommendation.
Convergence calibration
Every panel job ends with a service-menu convergence calibration so the three colours line up correctly. Without this the picture looks soft even with new panels.
₹149 visit, transparent quote
We diagnose first, quote the exact part number and price, and only then start work. ₹149 visit charge, waived on proceed.
Genuine OEM parts
We source parts from authorised distributors. We do not fit unbranded aftermarket components that compromise reliability or warranty.
Same-day or workshop
On-site fixes complete same day. Workshop board-level work runs 2-7 working days for parts and rework.
30-day warranty
30-day warranty on labour and replaced parts. If the same fault returns within 30 days we re-investigate at no charge.
Frequently Asked Questions
The questions we hear most often, answered without filler.
Polariser sheet burn on the blue LCD panel. Lamp UV bleaches the polariser over thousands of hours, and the blue channel takes the worst of it because UV energy is highest at short wavelengths. Polariser replacement runs ₹1,200-₹2,800 per panel and recovers the picture cleanly.
₹4,500-₹12,000 per panel fitted. Lower end for small-format Epson EB / EH series, higher end for large-format Panasonic PT-RZ and Sony VPL-FH series. 3LCD projectors have three panels, sometimes more than one needs replacing in the same job.
About 6 in 10 cases, yes. Polariser-only fixes the yellow blob, pink cast, blue tint and gentle haze patterns. Doesn't fix dead lines (need panel swap), burn-in (need panel swap), or ghosting (need prism re-alignment). We diagnose first.
Polariser bleaching is gradual, you typically don't notice until comparison against a reference. Lamp at end-of-life makes it worse because the spectrum shifts. We check both at once, polariser replacement plus lamp replacement is a common combo for projectors over 5,000 hours.
Depends on the cost ratio. If polariser-only work recovers the picture, almost always worth it (₹1,200-₹2,800 per panel). If full panel swap is needed and the quote is more than 50% of a comparable new projector, replacement is cheaper. We tell you that during diagnosis.
Polariser replacement: 2-3 working days at our workshop. Single LCD panel swap: 3-5 working days subject to OEM parts. Full optical-block rebuild: 7-10 working days. We give you a fixed date when we accept the job.
Yes, Epson EB, EH and EX series with the classic yellow-blob symptom are common in our queue. We carry polariser sheets for the most-deployed Epson sizes and can usually turn around in 2-3 working days. Other brands take 3-5 days for parts.
At our Secunderabad workshop, Flat 115, Tirupati Complex, Opp Paradise, MG Road. LCD work needs the optical block opened on a clean bench with anti-static handling, not a customer-site job. We collect from your address and deliver back.
